The United Way of Halton Hills strives to achieve the following values:

  • Encourage and promote volunteerism and volunteer leadership;

  • Principles:
  • Programs are locally administered
  • Programs funded are delivered in Halton Hills
  • Program does not receive funding from and government source
  • Program is not a duplication of another program already existing in the community
  • The board of the agency requesting funding has at least one member residing in Halton Hills
  • United Way dollars are clearly allocated to a specific program
  • Evidence of local partnership is presented
  • Program does not have any other easily identifiable source of funding

  • Community Priorities:
  • Hand Up...Not Hand Out:Programs that address the needs of residents living in poverty, by assisting them to help themselves
  • Children and Youth: Programs that provide for the healthy, emotional, spiritual, physical and social development of young people
  • Community Capacity Building: Programs that gather and mobilize resources to strengthen the community's capacity to care for itself
  • Safety & Support: Programs that provide safe and supportive environments where individuals can heal, grow, learn and live

    211 is a telephone number that can be dialed for access to community information.
    A trained Information and Referral Specialist will:
  • Assess your situation
  • Help you find answers to your questions
  • Provide you with options and appropriate referrals
  • This 24-hour-a-day service is free, confidential and available in many languages.
